Wellbeing for Exams

It’s exam season. But never fear, Munia’s wellbeing advice is here!

For all fellow King’s College London students, I’m hosting a Wellbeing for Exams workshop at Guys Campus on Monday 29th April from 2-3pm. It’s a drop in session with guided meditation, mindfulness techniques and stress alleviating tips.

To sum to my audience worldwide that cannot make this, here are a few of my top tips, focusing on the most important priority: take care of yourself.

  1. Take regular breaks - your brain needs some down-time (even just a few minutes) to cool off and absorb the new information you’ve just fed it. For more information on my favourite studying techniques (including the pomodoro break technique and active recall, check out my blog post here).

  2. Stay hydrated and nourished - please, I shouldn’t have to say more than this. Drink enough so you don’t get headaches when studying. Eat proper, whole food consisting of grains, protein and fruits + veg. You’ll concentrate better and will feel less tired, I promise.

  3. Organise to beat the stress. Write out a list of every single task you have to complete by the end of the Easter holidays. Divide your pages with subheadings of each subject followed by the individual tasks for each sub-topic within each module/subject. For example:

    Subheading: Buddhism

Individual tasks: make flashcard on meditation topic.

  4. Just do it! The best marketing slogan I have ever heard is this one. Straight to the point - just revise and get it out of the way. Make an exam timetable where you fit all your tasks in, but make sure its realistic. You’re not going to work 8 am to 8pm with a 10 minute break for lunch and 2 toilet breaks.

  5. Eyes on the prize. Focus on the end, and see exams as the means to an end. This will help you stay motivated even whilst revising dry topics.

Hope my top tips helped!
